Since 2007, GEADIRR has carried-out and continue to carry out a number of public awareness campaigns on major disaster risk issues of the year. Currently GEADIRR is the National coordinating organization for the Views from the frontline project which is implemented by the Global Network of Civil Society Organizations on DRR. This project and other GEADIRR projects have raised considerable awareness on risk issues and the need for a paradigm shift. After a couple of year’s involvement in sampling local population opinions and raising awareness, we are now engaged in another step which we consider is marking the onset of building community resilience to disaster risk. This is the Action, Reflection and Learning where we are engaged in in general learning process and getting to talk about the issues on the ground and how best this can be addressed by local communities. We serve here as a bridge between local community and local government by facilitating the voices of the community to be heard the national and international level.
